Background

Forty years in one neighbourhood

Dr. Siddiqui qualified with a B.I.M.S. from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, in 1981, and has practised in Abul Fazal Enclave ever since. His work combines hijama cupping with classical Unani herbal prescribing — the two are frequently used together, but neither is given without assessment.

Most of his patients come for hair fall, chronic back and joint pain, migraine, acne and digestive complaints. Many arrive after conventional treatment has plateaued; some are sent back to conventional medicine, because that is what their condition needs.

He sees every patient personally for the consultation. Treatments may be carried out by trained therapists under his supervision, but wet cupping is performed by him.

A patient once travelled from Ghaziabad expecting wet cupping for a headache. I sent him for a scan instead. It turned out to be something a cupping session would never have touched. That is the job.
