Hijama cupping for knee and joint pain
Targeted cupping around the knee to reduce inflammation and swelling, ease stiffness on stairs and after sitting, and improve the range of movement in the joint.
Assessed by Dr. Saeedul Hasan Siddiqui, B.I.M.S. before any treatment begins.

If your situation is not on this list, ask anyway — the consultation is free and Dr. Siddiqui will tell you if hijama is not the right answer.
- Knee pain going up or down stairs
- Stiffness after sitting for a long period
- Swelling around the joint after activity
- Osteoarthritis diagnosed by your doctor
- Old sports injury that still aches in cold weather
What happens at your appointment
Nothing is done before you have been assessed, and the assessment costs nothing.
Joint assessment
Range of movement, swelling, and what makes the pain worse. Any X-ray or diagnosis is reviewed.
Point selection
Cups are placed around — not directly on — the kneecap, plus the thigh and calf muscles that load the joint.
Session
Short-duration suction, because the tissue over the knee is thin. Wet cupping only where clearly indicated.
Movement advice
Simple strengthening guidance, because cupping relieves the pain but the muscle work keeps it away.
What this treatment can and cannot do
Helps clear the congestion that builds around an inflamed joint.
Patients commonly report stairs and standing up feeling easier within a day or two.
Quadriceps and calf tension load the knee; both are treated, not just the joint.
If the joint needs orthopaedic assessment, you will be told to see a specialist.

Dr. Saeedul Hasan Siddiqui, B.I.M.S.Hijama for knee pain · Practising since 1981Hijama for knee pain — your questions
Can cupping cure arthritis?
No. Arthritis is a structural change in the joint and no cupping session reverses it. What cupping can do is reduce the inflammation and muscular tension that make it painful day to day.
Is it safe after a knee replacement?
We do not cup over surgical sites or recent implants. Tell us about any surgery and Dr. Siddiqui will decide whether treating the surrounding muscles is appropriate.
Will I need painkillers afterwards?
Most patients do not. Do not stop any prescribed medication without speaking to the doctor who prescribed it.
How long does the relief last?
It varies. For inflammation-driven pain, relief often lasts weeks; for arthritic knees, periodic sessions alongside strengthening work suit most patients better.
